How we got here

Esendex

Mobyt

2001
Esendex was founded in Nottingham, UK in 2001, with a mission to build a quality SMS service for businesses.

2002
Mobyt was founded in 2002 as a provider of SMS services for businesses.

2005
Mobyt expanded to offer services into France.

2006
Esendex opened an office in Barcelona, serving France and Spain.

2007
Esendex opened an office in Melbourne, Australia, serving the APAC region.

2012
Esendex was awarded ISO27001 accreditation, and launched in Germany.

2013-14
In 2013, Esendex had a management buyout, backed by Darwin Private Equity. Esendex went on to purchase Text Marketer in the same year, and Collstream in 2014 (both UK-based mobile communication service providers, with Collstream specialising in the debt collection sector).

2015
Mobyt debuted on the AIM Italia market to support a development plan aimed at extending and consolidating the business model. They went on to purchase several businesses, most notably Skebby and Trendoo (both Italian SMS service providers) during the 2015-16 period.

2016-17
Mobyt was invested in by Hg Capital, and purchased SMS Envoi, a Marseille-based provider of SMS and email marketing services.

2017
Esendex purchased Malaga-based SMSpubli, and received new investment from Hg Capital. As part of that transaction, Esendex merged with Mobyt to form one of Europe’s largest business messaging groups.

2018
In 2018, the Commify brand was launched to represent the interests of the broader group. In our busiest year to date, we purchased UK-based M:Science, Connection Software and FastSMS.

2019
We started 2019 with a major acquisition, bringing UK-based TextAnywhere and Mediaburst into the Commify family. With 11,000 loyal customers, and message volumes exceeding 500 million in 2018, this has substantially strengthened our leading position in the UK market.

2021
We’ve acquired Spryng, a leading messaging provider based in Amsterdam operating in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany which represents a major addition to our scale in continental Europe, being our first move into the Benelux region, whilst accelerating our existing high growth business in Germany.
