As Engineering Tech Lead you will build, deliver and maintain cloud scalable web applications and business service products for Commify.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

The role holder will be responsible for:

• Assisting the Engineering Manager with coaching and mentoring a team of software engineers working in a “Feature Team” model to deliver applications and business solutions
• Educating, demonstrating, and helping the wider engineering teams to incorporate new practises and features that will drive high quality development output
• Hands-on production of high-quality code on a personal and team level adhering to Commify’s software engineering quality standards & benchmarks
• Aligning the engineering team to deliver product features that meet customer outcomes and use data to continuously learn, test and improve the quality and value of features
• Working closely with the Engineering Manager, Architects and Product Owner, both internal to the team but also across the Engineering layer, on technical input into stories and designs
• Ensuring sprint goals are met whilst removing risks / technical barriers to delivery and working with Product Owners to keeping track and remediate technical debt
• Embedding CI/CD best practices and frameworks by working with SRE Engineers to deliver predictable, fully tested, and automated deployments
• Close collaboration with architects to align technical and solutions architecture of the applications built by the team to the target end-state and defined standards
• Leading respective Sprint meetings aligned to the Agile Software Delivery methodology including but not limited to daily stand-ups, sprint planning and retrospectives
• Driving a positive experience through the development team, foster a culture of continuous improvement & learning, and quickly resolve resource and prioritisation conflicts
• Promoting & driving innovation by actively advocating new tools, processes and technical developments to drive continuous improvement throughout the SDLC
• Supporting the wider engineering community on best practices, as well as suggesting and sharing solution designs for technical workstreams
• Contributing to engineering best practices and standards expected at Commify and embrace an internal open-source approach to adding features into the codebase
• Ensuring documentation and appropriate technical specifications are created and shared between the relevant engineering stakeholders
• Clearly communicating development impacts and updates to the team and wider business, with collaboration from the Engineering Manager and Product Owners involved

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

The job holder will be an exceptional candidate with a proven track record in a similar role. In particular you are required to have:

Essential

• Extensive background in Software Engineering and delivering complex initiatives throughout an Agile working environment
• Solid understanding of scalable cloud solutions using development frameworks and languages in C# .NET/.NET Core and Angular
• Strong experience with of Azure PaaS features to host and run high throughput web applications
• Experience of designing and implementing REST APIs
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Azure Resource Manager
• Advocate and solid experience in delivery of event driven architecture practices via distributed services/microservices
• Extensive experience in maturing and delivery of Agile practices aligned to SCRUM and Lean ways of working
• Experience of mentoring/coaching team members from a technical perspective
• Thorough understanding of version control – exposure to GitHub
• Clear and confident when communicating to both colleagues and clients
• Passionate in defining and meeting front-end best practises to ensure the codebase meets industry best standards as a minimum. This will include a range of techniques that can be shared and met across the entire engineering department to promote consistency and gold standard outcomes

Desirable

• Good understanding of CI/CD pipeline and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes, etc)
• Experience delivering high-throughput software deployed globally
• Demonstrable ability to articulate resource capacity across multiple streams of work
• Experience working with international teams
• Experience using Vue JavaScript Web Framework
• Atlassian JIRA and Confluence experience
